You Up to the Challenge?

It’s all over the papers. The news. The radio talk shows. And the blog circuit. The question is: will we make it happen?

Former Vice President Al Gore’s call last Thursday for 100% renewable and clean energy within a decade is, according to the We campaign website, a “political and cultural challenge.” Ambitious as this vision may be, Gore rightfully noted that ten years is not only a realistic and necessary timeframe for large-scale change, but also that our short potlitical attention span demands action for the foreseeable future.

A lot can happen in a decade. After all, ten years ago, Will Smith’s “Gettin’ Jiggin Wit It” was flooding the airwaves– and THAT feels like an eternity. But it goes without saying that such change won’t happen without all Americans taking an active role, no matter how simple or small.
